Ed Scott Obituary

Ed Scott

Ed Scott passed away July 12, 2014 just as the sun was setting in the California desert. Born in Salt Lake City, Utah, to Leonard and Allie Scott in July 1922, Ed is survived by his wife Ann Scott and three children by Phyllis Larsen Scott (deceased), Steven, Martha (John) and Eddie (Kimmie) and Ann's three children, Dean (Shannon), Scott (Lena) and Bruce (Lyn), together with 14 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Ed was a five-letter athlete in high school and a four-letterman in college. He went on to play professional basketball and softball. He held many elected student body offices and was a navy athletic instructor during WWII. Ed also taught college business classes at Pittsburg State University and was later enrolled in the Army Finance Corps during the Korean War. Ed was a self-employed businessman for the remainder of his life, retiring in 1987. Ed served two years in the Salt Lake Temple baptistery and in 1988, Ann and Ed served an LDS mission in Hong Kong. Upon their return, they enjoyed homes in both Salt Lake and Rancho Mirage, California. A celebration of life will be held in November. Friends and family will be contacted with details.

Ed was one of the most honest, educated and giving man I have had the pleasure of knowing. My husband Scott Wilson " Ann Scott's middle son" loved this old man dearly and craved his knowledge of life and it's experiences in every conversation he had with old Wobbly. The world has lost a great mind, educator and person with his passing. God speed old Wobbly.

Ed was a big strong man, yet, as a toddler, I was able to pin him in a wrestling match
