Edith Nadler Obituary

Beloved in memory as she was in life, Edith Levine Nadler was born January 17, 1919 in New Rochelle, N.Y. and was a resident of Rancho Mirage, Calif. She is survived by her loving husband, George E. Nadler; daughter Dr. Janice Nadler; son Charles E Nadler (Candice); grandchildren, Geoffrey Nadler and Emma Nadler. Special thanks to her dedicated caregivers and Dr. Joel Hirschberg. Edith loved life, learning, engaging in vigorous political discourse, and delighted in the performing and visual arts. She graduated from the University of Michigan where she obtained her teaching certification and met her darling George. After moving to Minneapolis, she taught reading to young children. Later, she and George opened a designer furniture showroom called Manor House where her sense of design and color were show cased. Her next career was assisting George with the custom design of his next business, Arby's Restaurants, which expanded throughout the state of Minnesota and Wisconsin gaining national recognition for excellence in design. She was active in Boys and Girls Club of Minneapolis, Brandeis University, University of Minnesota Women's Auxiliary Board, Minnesota Women's Economic Roundtable and both the Art Institute of Minneapolis and the Walker Art Center. After moving to Rancho Mirage, she served on the Board of Directors of the Palm Springs Art Museum and became a member of the Curator's Selection Committee. Her love of life, sparkling smile, and the enjoyment she gave to us all will be remembered and sorely missed. A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, Jan. 17, 2010 at 1:00 PM at Morningside Country Club. SHIVA Minyan, 6:00 PM Jan. 17, 2010 and Jan. 18, 2010, 70-901 Fairway Drive, Rancho Mirage, CA. Dear George,Jenice, Chuck, Candice, Jeoffry and Emma,
We are very sad and share your sorrow and pain for the loss of Edith.
We have very nice memories of her as a real beautiful lady, a wonderful Mom and a special Grandma. Edith was so proud to have us as close family friends. It touched our hearts that much of the pride came from us being Israelis. She was so interested to hear about the country and loved Israel very much.
We wish you all a long happy, healthy, and peacefull life.
Love,
Yardena and Itzhak Harpaz.

Dear George and family,

My deep condolences in the loss of Edith. I enjoyed knowing you both during the time I worked for Gary Jon and assisted with the furnishing of your home in Rancho Mirage. I have a lovely picture of you and Edith and Janice seated in the library.
