Eli Ostern Obituary
May 12, 1926 - December 2, 2017
Eli M. Ostern, 91, predeceased by his wife Lenore; devoted father of Sharon and Fred; incredible grandfather of Jake and Bennett; father-in-law of Allison; brother of Herbert and brother-in-law of Arlene; brother-in-law of Bob and Carmen Berman, passed away on December 2, 2017. Born May 12,1926 in Brooklyn, NY. A graduate of Brooklyn College, he spent thirty years as an insurance executive in the northeast. After relocating to Palm Desert, Eli kept busy by playing golf, enjoying local restaurants and teaching at the COD and working in realty. He volunteered at Eisenhower Medical Center and the Children's Discovery Museum and other organizations. His family, friends and dogs will miss him. A private family service will be held. The family requests contributions be made to Desert Cancer Foundation, Palm Desert, CA.

Eli, you & Lennie were the first "friends" to take me in & make me welcome when I relocated to Westchester; you were always great & helpful & I'll never forget the kindnesses & caring you showed me during an anxious transition; I will miss you always, XOX, Roberta.

Winter in America ,1987.
misty in the morning this small cosy village in New England
full of trees and a breeze of fresh air
I know your dad is gettin' ready for the office,
a train at 6 am
I suppose he's still among you, in your hearts
Sharing a morning sun
Winter in 1987 was cold
And we just keep growing older
I remember your parents have given
enough love to love your dear ones and keep fond and strong memories for generations
I 've learned something of hom that winter
I wish I'd known before . He was a good man
But it's funny how you don't know
what you've got untill it's gone
And I hope you ' re keeping all the love and share it
