Ermanno Barone Obituary
We are sorry to announce that Ermanno Barone passed away peacefully on February 5, 2014 at the age of 72, in Kelowna, British Columbia, Canada. Ermanno was born April 7, 1941, in Amato, Catanzaro, Italy to his father, Giorgio Barone and his mother, Marina Barone (Mauro). The family moved to Winnipeg, Manitoba when Ermanno was seven years old. Ermanno married Elaine Barone (Mortier) on December 21, 1967, in Las Vegas, Nevada. In 1979, they moved from Winnipeg to Kelowna, B.C. They were married for 26 years. Ermanno is survived by his only son, Robert Barone of Rancho Mirage, Calif., Robert's wife Rachel, as well as his two grandchildren, Giorgio and Stefani. He is also survived by his brother, Tony Barone Sr., his sister Milvia Virgili and husband Tonino, his nephew, Victor Virgili and wife Ani, his niece, Giorgia Virgili, his nephew Tony Barone Jr. and wife Christina and their two children, Isabella and Anthony. Ermanno was also fortunate to find a special relationship with Gordana Bjazevic whom he recently married in West Kelowna. Funeral Service will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Palm Desert, Calif. on Tuesday, February 18, 2014 at 12:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the National Pancreatic Cancer Foundation.

Ermanno was a very enjoyable, respected friend as well as someone I worked with. He was determined to finance the production of my movie script "The Shakespeare Conspiracy." Our group met every Saturday for lunch to make plans for producing the movie. I was shocked to read the obituary in the Palm Springs paper. I know his family must miss him greatly. Ah, Ermanno was so interesting and kind. Such wonderful memories. We met most Saturdays for lunch.

Ermanno was the rare breed of a person so interesting to talk to and at the same time so enjoyable to be with. We had lunch most Saturdays in Palm Springs. And, of course, there was always a full round of the table of those who joined him. Unlike so many others, Ermanno's word was absolute. He promised to do or take care of things, and always succeeded in doing so. It was a shock to learn of his death. All who knew him liked his so much.

In our now far too short connection Ermanno proved to be a courageous and honourable man of solid good character. Ermanno keeps that with him eternally and he will be missed.
