George Fernandez Obituary
George Javier Fernandez, 40, of Palm Desert, California, died April 9, 2015, in Palm Desert, California. He was born Oct. 15, 1974, to George Carlos Fernandez and Aurelia Fernandez in Hemet, California. He married Sylvia Cortez on Feb. 14, 2003, in Las Vegas, Nevada. He worked in grocery retail and management at Vons and Trader Joes in a career spanning over 23 years. He is survived by his spouse, Sylvia Fernandez of Palm Desert, California; two daughters, Joanna Schaller of Hollywood, California, and Marissa Fernandez of Palm Desert, California; two sons, Andrew Schaller of Palm Desert, California, and George Carlos Fernandez III of Palm Desert, California; a sister, Veronica Davis (married to Glenn Davis) of Palm Desert, California; a brother, Raul Fernandez of Costa Mesa, California; and his parents, George and Aurelia Fernandez of Palm Desert, California. Visitation will be 4:00-8:00 p.m. Monday, April 20, 2015, with a Rosary at 6:00 p.m. Monday, April 20, 2015, at Forest Lawn Mortuary Ramon Road in Cathedral City, California. Funeral Mass will be 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at Sacred Heart Church in Palm Desert, California. Burial will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at Coachella Valley Cemetery on Avenue 52 and Jackson Street. Forest Lawn Mortuary of Cathedral City, California, is in charge of arrangements.

We had so many laughs and good times closing together at Vons! I missed him when he left, but I could still see him at Trader's. He was such a nice guy, and he made me laugh so much. He knew how much I loved to laugh!

George, We had a lot of good times together & with other fiends. Ill never forget the trips to Tijuana for the bullfights, the get togethers we had, & other crazy & fun times. You were like a family member to us all, always smiling & talking "Smack". You always had something funny to say or make a joke out of that made us laugh. You were like a gentle giant that would light up a room with your presence & sense of humor.
