Harold Leslie Bird Jr., 88, passed away on May 19, 2010 in Palm Desert, Calif. He was born in 1921 to Harold Leslie Bird and Florence Voorhees Bird in Bedminster Township, N.J. He married Mildred (Millie) King in 1945 at Epworth Methodist Church in Washington, D.C. Harold was a Professor of Chemistry. He taught at the University of Arizona where he earned his Ph.D, and then at the College of the Desert, where he retired in 1984. He was a Lieutenant JG in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Harold is survived by his wife, Millie Bird of Palm Desert; his daughter, Nancy Grant of Fremont; his son, Steven Sterling of Santa Maria; his three granddaughters; and one great-granddaughter. Graveside services will be held at a later date at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery. The family suggests donations be made in his name to: The Friends of the College of the Desert Library or Odyssey Health Care, Palm Desert.

I am very thankful to have been able to visit my cousins Millie and Harold during a trip through the States in 2007. I also have have fond memories of visits in Palm Desert when I was much younger. We will all miss Harold very much.
