Jacqueline Adele Dodge

1933 - 2013

Jacqueline Adele Dodge, 79, of Indio, Calif., passed away peacefully in her sleep at home on March 8, 2013. She was born to Jack and Frances Chinn on April 6, 1933 in Oak Park, Ill. She graduated from Wheaton High School in Wheaton, Ill. before entering the University of Kansas, where she met and later married Dale Arlyn Dodge, of Mission, Kan. They were married for 59 years and had four daughters. Jackie was the office manager for Dale Dodge, CPA and a homemaker with a variety of interests. She was involved throughout her life in the Delta Delta Delta Alumnae organization, and was active in church and community volunteer groups. She was an avid and accomplished gardener known who always knew how to coax a bloom from her roses, and spent countless hours knitting things for family and friends. Most of all, Jackie was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother to a large, close-knit family who will treasure her memory forever. Jackie was preceded in death by her parents and one daughter, Jeanne Dodge Weiss. She is survived by her husband Dale, of Indio, Calif., and three daughters and their spouses and eight grandchildren: daughter Sharon and husband Lars Jensen and grandsons Eric and Alex of Arlington, Texas; daughter Laurie and husband Chuck Wilson and grandchildren Kate and Jacob of Waco, Texas; daughter Patti and husband Lloyd Benedetti and grandchildren Kayla and Michael of Irvine, Calif.; and son-in-law David Weiss of Little Rock, Ark., and grandsons Brian and Peter Weiss of Philadelphia, Pa. Jackie is also survived by a brother, James Richard (Dick) Chinn and his wife Ellie of Ft. Collins, Colo., and their children Bill, Scott and Jeanette. In addition to her beloved miniature Schnauzers Midas and Cali, Jackie's treasure was her family, in whom she invested her entire life. She was the mother and grandmother everyone wished they had, always happiest when cooking for a noisy houseful of kids and grandkids, supporting them in quiet time with wise and comforting counsel, or making big plans for the next in a seemingly never ending series of graduations, marriages and births. A memorial service for Jackie will be held at 1:00pm on Thursday, March 14, 2013 at the Wiefels Palm Springs Chapel, 690 Vella Rd, Palm Springs, Calif. Dale and the family look forward to visiting with guests in the Hospitality Suite after the services from 2:00 to 4:00 pm.
