James W. Christian
James W. Christian, beloved son of Julia W. and Alvern D. Christian, passed away Monday, May 15, 2017. He was 46 years old and succumbed to brain cancer.
James earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Southern California, including a junior year at the University of Edinburgh, in Edinburgh, Scotland. He obtained Master's degrees in Art History from the University of Colorado, Boulder, and in Art Business from Sotheby's Institute of Art, London, UK. In addition, he studied at Pilchuck Glass School in Stanwood, Washington. A talented artist in glass and pottery, James also taught Art History courses at several Southern California colleges and lectured at Sotheby's on occasion.
With an active and curious mind, he was constantly in pursuit of knowledge in a wide range of disciplines. His curiosity and desire for life-long learning was nurtured through his frequent travels around the United States and the world. In pursuit of his artistic interests and career, he traveled extensively throughout Europe, Southeast Asia and China.
He is survived by his parents of Bermuda Dunes, his two rescued beagles, and extended family throughout the United States and Canada. Funeral arrangements are private.
