Jeanne Smith Obituary

Jeanne Ann Smith, 77 years old, beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully on July 7, 2013 in the presence of family after a long and hard fought battle with COPD. Jeanne was born on October 22, 1935 in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania, where she lived until moving to Westchester, California with her sister and father at the age of 13. Jeanne settled in Palm Springs, California with her husband and two sons finding work in the travel business. Jeanne worked for Anderson Travel Service for 30-years where she met many friends and enjoyed interacting with all of her clients, sharing the joys of world travel. She was an avid reader and enjoyed the peacefulness and beauty of the desert. She was preceded in death by her husband, Cliff, a retired Torrance Police Officer. Jeanne is survived by her children, son's Brent and daughter in law Julie of Orange County, Brian and daughter in law Kelly of Hawaii, sister, Joy O'Neil of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma. Grandchildren include Samantha of Athens, Georgia and Spencer who recently deployed to Afghanistan while on active duty in the U.S. Army, and Archer who resides in Hawaii with his parents. Jeanne was a loving and caring person to her family and friends. She shared a special bond and friendship with her sister, Joy, whom she spoke with nightly for the past 12-years. She will be missed by many and her smile and generosity will live forever through our memories. Jeanne will be interned with her husband of 50 years at Arlington National Cemetery in Riverside California.

Brian and Brent, So sorry as I just found out about your Mom.
We just saw each other once in awhile and talked on the phone now and then but she was a big part of my life in Palm Springs.
Jeanne and Cliff and Pat and I spent many, many fun times together.
And of course she booked all my trips for me. I will miss her.

Brent and Brian, so sorry. I just found out about your Mom today. I thought it was strange that I didn't receive a Christmas card from her this year. We only saw each other once in awhile and talked on the phone now and then but she was a big part of my life here in Palm Springs and she booked all my trips for me. I will miss her.
Love, Bobbie Dolan
