John befriended me many, many years ago when I was a young man in high school. He even let me borrow his Prometheus Promodem 2400 so that I could continue calling BBS systems after the modem in my Apple //e failed on me, back before the Internet was commonly used. He taught me a lot, and always treated me with respect even though I was 'just a kid'. I lost contact with him in recent years and tried to find him again, and then learned of his passing. Although it has been a few years since we have spoken, I'll definitely miss him.

I have known John for the last 15 years. He was a mensch who was an active participant in the Palm Springs Jewish Community. In recent times we saw each other as members of the" children of survivors group". I am in Hungary now as I received news of his passing. When I return in November I will miss him rolling into our meetings as well as at Film Festival showings. He has left us too early. Steve Geiger

I am shocked to learn of John's death at such a young age.- the news just came tonight or I would have attended the memorial service.
I first knew him when we were both active in the desert's original Holocaust Survivors of the Desert - where I also knew his parents and his aunt. Recently, we both participated in the 2nd Generation group. We all will remember his passionate reviews of Movies and Books with Holocaust or Jewish themes, and his learned mind.
My condolences to his wife Cathie, mother Cecilia, and aunt Elizabeth.
