Margaret Milam Meager
It is with sincere regret and deep sadness that we announce the passing of our mother, Susie Meager. Susie (as she was known by her friends) Grammie G (as she was known by her family) passed away peacefully on June 3rd, 2021, after lighting up the world for almost 96 years with kindness, love, laughter and a dash of good humor.
Born and raised in Topeka, Kansas, in 1925, Margaret Louse Milam was raised by her parents, Grace Emily Milam and Morris Dale Milam, and adored by her siblings, Jean, Jack and Mose, Jr. Her father called her his little "Soosie" shortly after she was born, and the name remained.
Susie moved to California to attend UCLA, where she was a member of the Kappa Alpha Theta sorority house and where she met the love of her life, Norman Alfred Meager. They were married for 69 years before Norman passed away in 2016.
Susie was an accomplished painter and her family's homes are full of her artwork. She was a champion tennis player and golfer all her life. She completed the New York Times Crossword Puzzle (along with Sudoku and the 'Jumble') every morning and loved playing bridge with her friends. She was a resident of Emerald Bay, Laguna Beach, for 49 years and split her time between Laguna and Indian Wells, where she was a member of The Vintage Club for 37 years.
Susie is survived by her four children and spouses, Kent (Beth), John, Tim (Erich), and Meg (Gary). She was blessed with twelve grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren, all of whom ADORED her. Services will be private. Any remembrance in her honor can be made to one's favorite charity.
