Marilyn Bibby Obituary

Marilyn T. Bibby, 85, died peacefully at her home in Palm Desert on October 4, 2007 from complications of a stroke. She was born on March 22, 1922 in Walters, OK. She was preceded in death by her husband of sixty-six years, Howard, who died on August 29, 2006. She was also pre- deceased by her sister, Marcy Paden, and her parents, Clarence and Lillian Townsley. She is survived by her daughters, Candace and her husband, Michael Carroll of Indian Wells, and Angela Bibby, and her partner Revin Stoker, of Austin, TX. Mrs. Bibby's early life was spent in Cisco, TX. She and Mr. Bibby moved to the Coachella Valley in 1962. They operated the Rasco Department Store in downtown Indio before retirement in 1975. Marilyn's accomplishments were as a wife, mother, and busiiness partner. Mrs. Bibby was a realtor in 1968 when she located the property that became Fellowship Hall on Portola Avenue in Palm Desert. She assisted her husband in founding Fellowship Hall and the ABC Recovery Center in Indio. Mr. and Mrs. Bibby took great joy in knowing that these organizations have helped many people and that is their proudest legacy. Services for Mrs. Bibby were private. In her memory the family requests donations to VNAIC Hospice, 42-600 Cook Street, Suite 202, Palm Desert, CA 92211 or to Fellowship Hall, P.O. Box 296, Palm Desert, CA 92261. Mrs. Bibby's family wishes to thank Dr. Richard Byrd, and her caregivers, Sherian Smallwood and Dorene Barker, for their care and compassion.
