Peter Malch Obituary

Peter Malch, 84, died peacefully Wednesday, April 13, 2011. He was born in Belgrade, Yugoslavia. He and his wife Gertrude were both passionate about the art of cuisine and service. Earlier in his career he was Maitre'd at the Spa Hotel in the days of the Rat Pack and Elvis and the Colonel, though he was best known for his nearly 20 years at Eldorado Country Club in Indian Wells where he adored sharing his skills of high end European service. He was a great animal lover and is survived by his daughter, Tanya Malch Petrovna, who retained these passions as well and with his help helped create the first national vegetarian restaurant chain, Native Foods Cafe, founded in Palm Springs, Calif. A Life Celebration will be at his home Sunday, April, 24, 2011 from 4-7:00 PM. Donations may be made to Friends of the Palm Springs Animal Shelter, P.O Box 4808, Palm Springs, CA 92263 or palmspringsanimalfriends.com to help homeless animals.

My husband and I met Peter through Werner and Loretta Weber in Hayden, Idaho several years ago. Peter was such a personality and left everyone somewhat in awe about his adventuresome spirit....the biking, the traveling in Eastern Europe....really quite a guy.
