Richard Brimmer Obituary

Richard "MacGyver" Brimmer, 56, of Desert Hot Springs, CA, passed away on Friday, November 30, 2007 at Desert Regional Hospital, after being in a motorcycle accident on Thursday night, November 29, 2007 in Palm Springs, CA. He was born on October 19, 1951 to Richard Archie Brimmer and Jo-Ann Beaman of West Los Angeles, CA. His father was killed in a logging accident when Richard was just an infant. his famous grandfather was Richard Dix, a movie star of the 20's, 30's and 40's who died in 1949. Richard is survived by his wife, Eileen Brimmer of Fullerton, CA; his daughter, Amanda; and one granddaughter, with another grandchild on the way. He will be terribly missed by all who knew him including his loving aunt, Sara Sue Dix of Desert Hot Springs, CA; his sister, Rachelle Nolan of Huntington Beach, CA; his pal and cousin, Greg Zamarin of Montana; his uncle, who was his father's twin brother, Bob Dix of Chatsworth, CA and his nephew, Zack Nolan of Huntington Beach, CA. Richard loved the beaches of Santa Monica, the mountains of Montana, his friends of Pioneertown, in the High Desert above Yucca Valley, and getting in the wind on his Harley. He was always a free spirit. Appropriately, his ashes will be spread over the mountains of Montana, near the home he finally found and where now his spirit is truly free. Many of Richard's friends have a bond with him that will never die. Wiefels of Palm Springs, CA handled the cremation. A Celebration of his Life will be held in Palm Springs at a date and time yet to be determined. For those interested in attending please write to Dix-Brimmer, P.O. Box 744, Desert Hot Springs, CA 92240.

I never had the pleasure of meeting you, and had hoped that I would some day. I grew up next door to your dad and family. Sara Sue was my best friend as we were growing up and your dad, Richard, was my brother's, best friend until his untimely death. I'm hoping that you now have met up with your dad and grandfather and are getting to know the ropes in that dimension. Sara Sue misses you terribly and I hurt for her. Take care and we all will catch up in the future. Love, Cynthia Brown Hale. P.S. Give your dad and grandfather a hug for me.

I will always remember Richard as a rock. In the time that we spent he stood for what he believed in and wanted to do. He was always quick with a joke, story or an expression to make you laugh, and faster than that when you needed a friend.

Richard was a man among men. His heart was as big as all outdoors. Since childhood, he loved being in the high mountains, fishing up remote rivers, owned and operated a firewood supply company, worked in housing construction from the slab to installing the roof. His excellent work ethic was well known. He'll be missed by all who knew him.
