Robert Miner Obituary

Robert Wilson Miner, 74, of Palm Springs, CA passed away at home after an extended illness, on February 18, 2008 with his family by his side. Born February 17, 1934 in Los Angeles, he moved to Palm Springs with his mother Beryl, in 1940. He attended Palm Springs High School. Bob, as he liked to be known, was a welder by trade. He owned and operated \\\"Hole in the Wall\\\" VW Repair & Welding since the early 1970\\\'s. Many drivers along N. Indian Canyon marveled at the 28\\\' tall black widow spider, which Bob constructed out of a VW Bug, that greeted visitors to the shop. His passions were building and racing cars across the desert, which he loved so much, and recreating a desert oasis at \\\"Hole in the Wall\\\". Bob was a big brother and surrogate father to many desert \\\"orphans\\\". He took them under his wing and helped get their lives back on track. Many of these individuals now lead successful lives thanks to Bob and his influence. Bob is survived by daughters, Berylanne Crutchley of Temecula, CA and Erin Miner-Welch of Palm Springs, CA; son, Robert Miner Jr. of Anchorage, AK; grandchildren, Dash, Devon, and Noelle Crutchley, Erica and Shanelle Miner, and Che Chang; cousins, Howard Wilson of Nevada City, CA and Marshall Wilson of San Diego, CA; and Son in laws, Danny Welch of Palm Springs, and Gary Crutchley of Temecula, CA. A gathering of family and friends will be held at \\\"Hole in the Wall\\\", 6545 N. Indian Canyon, Palm Springs, CA at noon on Saturday, March 1, 2008.

Bob was an alter father to my husband Wayne who introduced me to him.
Bob was always very kind to my children and me .He was interested in many things an a joy to have a conversation with.
May his spirit forever ride the desert winds in an open jeep with General Patton.
Peace be with his family.
