Roberta Katherine (Golden) Kiser

August 13, 1938 - August 30, 2012

Roberta was born in Altona, Illinois. Her father bought a farm in Flora, Illinois after working at Carbondale, Illinois where Roberta started school at Southern Illinois University schools. She graduated from Flora High School and went back to SIU where she got her education degree in Elementary Education and Library Science. She lived and taught briefly in Chicago before moving to Palm Desert. While there she had her first son, Robert Glen Crisman. Roberta taught kindergarden, first and second grades at several schools in Desert Sands Unified Schools before she left to have our second son, James Jacob Kiser. She met and married her husband Jim while they were both clearing their Lifetime Teaching Credentials. They were married December 19, 1971 and moved to Rancho Mirage, Calif., where they lived for 41, 1/2 years. They all loved to travel and camp and did so every vacation. In 2002 she and Jim both retired and traveled back and forth to Jim's hometown in Mansfield, Ohio, where they own Jim's boyhood home. Roberta is survived by her loving husband, James E. Kiser, Rancho Mirage, son, Robert Glen Crisman, Carlsbad, two grandsons Kellen and Sean Crisman of San Francisco and San Diego, son, James Jacob Kiser, Cottage Grove, Ore., and one brother, Douglas Golden, Cape Girardeau, Mo. She was preceded in death by her parents, Steven Robert Golden and Virginia Lasher Golden both of Flora, Illinois. She will be interred in the Memorial Wall at Muskingum University in New Concord, Ohio where Jim will join her when it is his turn. A Celebration Of Life will be held at The Community Church of Joy, Fellowship Room of The Armenian Church, Palm Desert, (Monterey & Country Club) at 9:00AM, Sunday, September 16, 2012. Memorial Services will also be held in Missouri and Ohio at later dates. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to The Community Church of Joy, P.O.
