Ronald Dobbins Obituary

Ronald Lee Dobbins, 60, passed away on August 20, 2011 in Palm Desert, Calif., after a long and courageous battle with tonsil cancer. He was born in Chicago, Ill., to Dennis "Jack" Dobbins Jr. and Mary Ellen Dobbins. He graduated from Indio High School in 1969. Ron was a self employed bobcat equipment operator for 30 years. He loved boating, hunting, camping, off-roading and spending time with his family. Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Diane; sons, Wesley and Travis; daughter-in-law Sonia, and granddaughter Shalay. He is also survived by brothers, Dennis, Donald, Gerald, Leonard and Danny as well as sisters, Susan Slama, Kathleen Caudill, Cheryl Dobbins, and Jacqueline Mueller. He was preceded in death by his father and mother. Ron's sense of humor made those around him laugh. He will be dearly missed by all. A celebration of life memorial service will take place September 18, 2011 at 12:30 p.m. in the clubhouse at Desert Falls Country Club, 1111 Desert Falls Parkway, Palm Desert.

Dear Diane,

Steve and I were saddened when we heard about Ronnie passing away. He was a real unique man that truely loved his family. When we go to Lake Havasu, we will always remember him and his "Just For Fun" boat. May time and friends comfort you.

So sorry Diane, Travis and Wes to hear of Ron's passing. Hard to believe it has been 25 years since we all met. Can't think of anyone that lived life more on his own terms than Ron, and can't imagine anyone having a better time.

He was a bigger than life character, God forbid never dull! He was generous, warm and caring, and knew how to make a person smile.

Ron has left everyone, especially his family, with tons of memories and great stories, and surely will be missed by all who knew him.

Let those memories bring you comfort during this really hard time.

Hello Diane,
I was already sad, when I heard that you and Ron moved on to another club. I missed your friendship and unending smiles. I always felt accepted by you and Ron, and I'll never forget when I brought my professional, IHOP, egg-cracking skills to your generous breakfasts! Both of you were loved by so many.
Now I hope that you will receive the strength you need, while Ron rests in peace. He was really a good man. Stay close to your friends and family, and it will be alot easier. May God bless you and sll of your loved ones.

"A lot of people pass away too early -- without a reason. When we look at the sky -- we like the thought that they are looking back at us. We remember them often -- in the morning -- in the night. When we look at the stars...a date...a song...a place...a smell...in memory of those who left us. Post this as your status if you miss somebody who is watching you from heaven". I liked this quote that is circulating FB right now...is nice. Rory & I have sure missed you both these past few years. So sorry we lost touch with our busy lives. Miss your smiles & jokes and egg breakfasts will never be the same. I am so sorry & saddened to hear of Ron's passing...did not know he was ill. My prayers & thoughts are with you always Diane, as well as to your sons too! Thinking of you & praying that God will send you peace during this difficult time.

Those we love remain with us for love itself lives on, and cherished memories never fade because a loved one's gone. Those we love can never be more than a thought apart, far as long as there is memory, they'll live on in the heart.

Warm Summer Sun

Warm summer sun,
Shine kindly here,
Warm southern wind,
Blow softly here.
Green sod above,
Lie light, lie light.
Good night, dear heart,
Good night, good night.
