Steve DeCuir Obituary

Steve DeCuir

After fighting a long and courageous battle with much dignity against cancer, it is with great sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Steve DeCuir on Dec. 14, 2014. He was born Oct. 21, 1957 to Frank & Dorothy DeCuir in Beverly Hills, California. During his years at Beverly Hills High, Steve excelled in sports and his 6'4' stature affectionately earned him the nickname "Tiny." Steve was in TV and video production for 18 years. His son, Christopher, was his greatest production of all. Steve was a mentor to many of Chris' friends. No one was a stranger to our sweet Steve. He made each person he came across through his journey in life feel loved and special. Steve was predeceased by his parents and brother, Frank DeCuir II. Survivors include his wife Anita; son Christopher; sisters Linda (Hank) Cappella and Cathy (Chuck) Donaldson; brother Tim (Jill) DeCuir and many nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to the PendletonFoundation.org in Steve's name. Graveside services will be held Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. at Forest Lawn, 69855 E. Ramon Road, Cathedral City.

This mighty oak of a man cast a huge shadow, I suspect the memory of him will cast an even greater one. You were a kind and welcoming soul with a great happy spirit about you. You were always a great teammate and worthy opponent. It has been over 40 years since I last saw you in high school, hopefully it will be 40 or more before we meet again... rest in peace kind man. Sincere condolences to your family.

I knew Steve when he lived in Des Moines, Iowa. He was such a big man, but the biggest part of him was his heart! Rest in peace, my friend. All of my best to the family.

Amazing Steve. Kind, loving and so funny and so smart. My sister Anita, and Steve such a special couple, and what a amazing son, sweet Christopher. One of the most interesting people, you could ever have a conversation with. Steve was charismatic to everyone he met. I am so grateful to have been a part of his life. Our family was richly blessed. My condolences to Anita and Christopher on the loss of your loving Husband and Dad.
I will always remember how friendly Steve was and how kind he was to my Son Allen when he first moved into our neighborhood many years ago and Steve always would ask about how Allen was doing even when Steve was very ill.

Uncle Steve, you taught me so much and were a huge part of my life. I will continue to pay it forward with Chris. I know you're playing pickup games at the basketball court looking down on us. You will always be in my heart.
