Susan Corcoran Obituary
After a long illiness, lifetime resident Susan Corcoran passed away Thursday, June 24, 2015, at the age of 68. She was born Feb. 13, 1947. Susan went to St. Theresa Elementary School then graduated from Palm Springs High School in 1965. She continued her education at College of the Desert. During her college years, Susan traveled to Bristol Bay, Alaska, the summers of 1968 and '69. She packed red salmon for Bumble Bee Seafoods in Naknek, Alaska, along with her two best friends from Palm Springs. It was an adventure of a lifetime. She made lifelong friends on this trip which prompted her to move to Oregon where she lived and worked as an executive secretary at Georgia Pacific for several years. Susan had a great sense of humor. She loved people, and all animals had a special place in her heart. She was kind and compassionate toward everyone she met. Susan was a gourmet cook, an avid reader and an accomplished seamstress. She had a flair for design. On her return to Palm Springs she worked for Arthur Elrod, a well-known Palm Springs interior designer. Susan also worked as the administrative assistant to the general manager of the Ritz Carlton, assistant catering manager at Maxim's and also at Thunderbird Country Club. Susan is survived by her sisters Mary Francis Leaverton and Harriet Corcoran; her brother Harry Corcoran; cousin Joanne Pruett; beloved nephews Michael and Mark Leaverton; brother-in-law David Leaverton; and four grandnephews and nieces.

Susan was a true friend and giving person. In addition to always looking at life in a positive way in spite of how difficult it may have been for her. I will cherish all the years of our friendship. I met and worked with Susie at Thunderbird Country Club from 1997 - 2002. She was a wonderful person and enjoyed her great sense of humor. We truly have lost a Great Gal! I had the luck to have lived next to Susan. She was always full of incouragement, positively bringing Joy, and Confidence with her Loving Personality. Susan was a blessing to me and I'm sure to many others in her Life. I will truly Miss You Susie. I Thank God for bringing You Home.

Susie and I were inseparable growing up in Palm Springs and continued our friendship throughhout her too short life. I'll miss Susan's wonderful sense of humor and the heart to heart talks. Our shared adventure to Alaska for employment led to lifetime memories.

Susie was such an important part of my life during those formative years from 6th through Junior College. We grew up together and she was such a sweet and funny friend. Our friendship enriched my life and my heartfelt sympathy goes out to Harriet, Harry and Mary Frances. She will always have a place in my heart.

Knowing Susan left me with a treasure of wonderful memories. We both worked together at the Rancho Mirage Ritz Carlton. Susan was the General Manager's executive secretary - a lovely, beautiful and petite young lady. For the last five years, we lived next door to Susan - what an honor!

Dear Mary Frances, Harriet, and Harry: I have many happy memories of Susie as a jolly little girl at St. Theresa and one of those darling children on Calle San Antonio. The Corcorans were always one of those marvelous families in the Veterans Tract. When your parents came to get you at school, they were always on their way to work and always smiling and friendly to all. Leslee Lafrantz and I wonder if there will be a service of Susie.
