Susan Templeton Obituary
Longtime resident Susan Templeton passed away surrounded by family on August 12, 2015 after a valiant fight with esophageal cancer. Susan was born on June 18, 1931 in Terre Haute, Indiana. A graduate of Indiana University, she had careers with both IBM Corporation in Indianapolis and Washington D.C., and Plumb Supply Company of Des Moines, Iowa. Susan was an avid tennis player as a member of the USTA and the Senior Women's Tennis Association. She played locally at both the Indian Wells Tennis Garden and Shadow Mountain Tennis Club. She also played nationally in SWTA tournaments. In the 70's age group, she and her doubles partner were ranked 7th in the nation. She was a member of the Palm Desert Community Presbyterian Church, where she served as Deacon Moderator, and was active in the Deacon's Care Day Program for many years. Susan is survived by two sisters, Phyllis Myers of Scottsdale, AZ and Pauline Anshutz of Terre Haute, IN; a brother, Tom Templeton of Terre Haute, IN, and a sister-in-law, Ronni Templeton also of Terre Haute, IN. She was predeceased by her parents, Phillip and Florence Templeton, and brother, John Templeton. Also surviving are two sons, Phillip Templeton of St. Louis, MO and Eric Templeton of Lombard, IL; two daughters, Kirsten McGuire of Fairway, KS and Megan Claypool of Des Moines, Iowa. Additional survivors include 10 grandchildren that provided her great joy and pride. Susan will be remembered for her kind heart, wonderful story telling and gentle spirit. Private family services will be held. Memorial gifts may be directed in Susan's name to Palm Desert Community Presbyterian Church, Care Day Ministry, 47-321 Highway 74, Palm Desert, CA 92260.

Sue was an inspiration. She didn't complain and talked about living a good life. She was an "in charge" capable person with a great sense of humor. I envied her tennis ability. Her Faith shined.
