Bobby Armstrong Obituary

September 20, 1946 - March 27, 2011

Bobby Michael Armstrong, "Mike", was born on September 20, 1946 and left our earth to join our Heavenly Father on March 27, 2011 at the age of 64.

Services are set for Friday April 1, 2011 at Brazos Christian School at 3 p.m. with Interment following at Rest Ever Memorial Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, March 31, at Trevino-Smith Funeral home.

Mike, as everyone knew him, was born in Bryan, September 20, 1946 to Robert and Joyce Armstrong. He graduated from Stephen F Austin High school in 1965. He received his law enforcement Certification from Texas State University, and recently earned his bachelor's degree in criminal justice from the University of Phoenix. Throughout the years he had been employed by numerous law enforcement agencies in Texas and was currently employed by Brazos Christian School as director of Maintenance.

He was a very compassionate man who deeply loved his kids and his grandkids. He was always willing to go out of his way to help anyone he could and would give his last dime to a stranger. He touched many people in Bryan/College Station and surrounding areas. He was a practical joker and loved to smile.

He was a hard-working man sometimes working three jobs to just make sure his family didn't do without anything. He was a jack-of-all-trades and loved woodworking. He was a great hunter and enjoyed any type of firearm. He enjoyed taking photos and loved spending time with his family and his pit-bull, Pokie. He was full of amazing stories from his days as a police officer.

He was a wonderful loving father, our hero, a loving husband and a fun loving, friendly man that everyone could always count on to be there, and a jokester.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and a sister, Lynda Shaw.

He is survived by his wife of 30 years, Kay Gomez Armstrong; six daughters, Lori Armstrong Marlatt, Bobbi Armstrong Franco, Brande Armstrong Pitts, Krystal Armstrong Muntean, Rebecca Armstrong, and Alysia Armstrong Carpio; sister, Sandi Armstrong Smith; 11 grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews.

We want to thank everyone that has helped and supported our family in our darkest hour. Special thanks to all the wonderful, caring people at Brazos Christian School, the Constables and Sheriff, Randy French with StyleCraft, and many more than we can even fit on one page.

Brazos Christian School has set up a Memorial Fund in Mike's Name.

Death leaves a heartache no one can heal, love leaves a memory no one can steal. ~

We all know the love of this family is great. And, even in death, this love is not gone.
Mike was a loving husband, father, and friend to many, and he will be tremendously missed amoungst us all.
To my dear cousins, I am truly sorry for your loss today, and my heart is saddened with grief. Know that I am praying for the Lord to comfort your family as quickly as He can. To the Armstrong family, it saddens me tremendously to even think about my dear friend no longer being there to make us laugh and to give us words of wisdom when the situation warrants. Mike was truly a friend and a confidant, i am truly a better man having known him.

I love you guys and I pray for you as you begin the path to healing, always remember Mike put family first, you guys were very dear to him.

Armstrong family: As a growing extension of your family heart heart goes out to you. Mike was like a father to a lot of us growing up. Everyone knows what a wonderful man he was. He loved everyone but no most than his girls: Kay, Bobbie, Lori, Brande, Krystal, Becca and Alisha. There will always be a place in my heart for Mike and his family. Remember; though it may not feel like it now, when God closes a door, he always opens a window. I love you all and will do all I can to make sure you make it through these troubling times. Love you- the Goodrich/ Gonzalez Family.
