David Hall Obituary

David Hall

September 1, 1954 - December 26, 2020

David Norman Hall was born September, 1954 in Fox, KY, at his home. He passed away on Friday, December 26th, 2020 at Franklin Nursing Home.

He was the seventh child born to Henry Garrett and Ferby B. Rose Hall. For the first 18 years of his life, his birthday was celebrated on September 2nd, but when he went to get his driver's license, the state of Kentucky had it down as September 1st. From then on he recognized it on the 1st, but celebrated both days as his birthday.

David graduated from George Rogers Clark High School in 1972. In 1973, he decided it was time to move to Texas, as his brothers before him had all done. In July 1974, he joined the US Marine Corps. David was proud to be a Marine. He spent most of his military career in Twenty Nine Palms, CA and Cherry Point, NC.

In December of 1974, while on leave for the Christmas holidays, David married Margaret Cazey. They moved to California to begin their life together as a military couple. David was fortunate to get into Electronics Technician school as a Marine, and made his career after his military service in that field in various jobs in the Bryan/College Station area. At the end of his career, David went to work for Reynolds & Reynolds, where he served as a Technical Writer and Supervisor Trainer.

David loved his family, and loved being from such a large one. He regularly told people that he was the 7th of eleven children.

He was a member of the Franklin church of Christ, where he served as a deacon, Bible school teacher, and occasionally preached for churches in the surrounding area.

David was preceded in death by his parents; his step-mother, Norma Hall; a niece, Lisa Stephens; and two great-nieces, Jenny Stephens and Paige Blair. He is survived by his wife, Margaret of nearly 46 years; his son, Norman Hall and wife Tara of Oklahoma City, OK; daughter, Sarah Branch and her husband, Scotty, of Abilene, TX; his son, Travis Hall of San Antonio, TX; two grandsons, Jaxson and Harrison Hall; two granddaughters, Madelyn and Avery Branch; ten siblings, Carrie Marstella and husband, Glenn of Winchester, KY; Wendell Hall and wife, Becky, of Bryan, TX; Betty Spry, and husband, Jim of Winchester, KY; James Hall and wife, Patsy, of Franklin, TX; Henry Hall, and wife, Rhonda of Franklin, TX; Thelma Jordan, and husband, Melvin of Winchester, KY; Rose Etta Spry, and husband, Harvie of Winchester, KY; Brenda Christopher, and husband, Bobby of Winchester, KY; Patricia Rankhorn, and husband, James of Winchester, KY; Tommy Hall and wife, Carolyn, of Sunbury, OH; and lots of nieces and nephews.

The family wishes to thank the staff of the Franklin Nursing Home for taking such loving care of David during his last months of life.

Services will be held on Thursday, December 31st, 2020, at Franklin church of Christ, followed by interment at New Baden Cemetery. The service will be live-streamed via the Franklin church of Christ website (franklincofc.com) for those who are not able to attend in person.

Donations in David's name may be made to Franklin church of Christ, or the Alzheimer's Association (alz.org).
