David McGuire Obituary

David Lessly McGuire, age 83, of The Woodlands, Texas, passed away on Tuesday, June 18, 2024. He was born March 25, 1941, in Bryan, Texas, and was preceded in death by his father, John Gilbert, and his mother, Nona. He is survived by his loving wife, Jo Ann McGuire; his son, John, and his grandson, Matthew; his daughter, Tara; his brother, Michael McGuire (Marilyn) and their children; and his sister, Linda Matthews (Bill) and their children; and his beloved shih tzu, Lizzie.

David grew up in College Station and graduated from A&M Consolidated High School and attended Texas A&M University and University of Oklahoma Law School. He served as a fighter pilot in the U.S. Navy from which he was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross. After graduating law school, he served as Managing Partner of the intellectual property law firm Arnold, White and Durkee. After retiring, he followed his passion for the sea and was a member of Lakewood Yacht Club for many years. He was also an avid motor coach enthusiast and traveled extensively. While not on the road, summers were spent at Mountain Falls Motorcoach Resort in Lake Toxaway, NC.

David was a member of The Woodlands Methodist Church and participated in Honduras mission trips and Quest for many years.

A Committal Service is scheduled for Monday, July 8, 2024, at 10:45 a.m. at the Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77038. A Celebration of Life will follow at 12:30 p.m. at The Woodlands Methodist Church, 2200 Lake Woodlands Drive, The Woodlands, Tx 77380.
