Dwight Recht Obituary

It is with great sadness and deep respect that we mark the passing of Dwight Laurence Recht to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on August 2, 2025, at his home in Wichita Falls, Texas at the age of 80. He was a remarkable individual whose presence touched the lives of so many.

Dwight was born on April 25, 1945, in Salinas, California. He was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dwight and Corinne Recht. He is survived by his wife Mary Anne Darland Recht of Wichita Falls, Texas, his son David Howard Recht and wife Catharine, as well as two grandchildren-Jonathan and Catherine Recht, of Dallas, Texas, his younger brother Gregory Eric Recht and wife Susan Recht, of Crossville, Tennessee, step daughter Kelli Mills and husband Aaron, 2 children- Mallory and Greyson Mills of Keller, Texas, step-daughter Kristi Milstead and husband Britt of Lubbock, Texas, along with their 3 sons Carter, Hudson and Tate Milstead of Wichita Falls, Texas.

Dwight was a graduate of Texas A & M University with a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering in 1967. He launched himself into the stratosphere in Academics, the Corps of Cadets, Ross Volunteers, F-1 Company First Sergeant and F-1 Company Commander. He then joined the Army in 1968 and served his tour of duty in Vietnam for 2 years.

During his career he worked on many domestic and foreign projects developing pipelines in countries around the world while employed by Trunkline Corporation and onto becoming a partner at Eagleton Engineering in Houston, Texas. He also did independent consulting work until his retirement in 2020.

Dwight Recht. I shall always remember Dwight.......he was my boyfriend in the 8th grade! We "went steady" for a whole week : ) and I wore his jacket proudly. I nick-named him "Doc" because his initials spelled "doctor".

He moved to Shreveport during our sophomore year and we remained friends/pen pals throughout the years.
I visited him during vacation while we were both in college.

I nick named him "Doc" because his initials spelled "doctor.' We managed to keep in touch through the years and he had hoped to make it to Capuchino High School,
for our '63 class reunion, but illness prevented it. How I wish we could have seen each other one last time!

Dwight and I were first cousins. His father and my mother, Dorothy Recht Brooks, were brother and sister. As young children, our extended families visited back and forth between Salinas, Santa Cruz, CA and points beyond. Dwight inherited our grandmother's blue eyes. Dwight was loved and admired by all who knew him. God speed Little Dwight. RIP.
