Gloria Jackson

1940 - 2025

Gloria Boyls Jackson, age 85, of Temple, Texas, lived a life full of love and joy. She passed away peacefully on August 16, 2025, at Sunrise on Hillcrest in Dallas, Texas.

Born on February 25, 1940, in Cameron, Texas, at St. Edwards Memorial Hospital, Gloria was the eldest daughter of Vera Lee Strickler Boyls and Robert Lee Boyls. She shared a very close and spirited bond with her sister Carol. And she adored her youngest sister, Lana, with whom she shared a special relationship full of fun, friendship, and love.

On March 8, 1974, Gloria married the love of her life, Richard Thomas Jackson, in Ben Arnold, Texas. They shared nearly four decades together until his passing on June 3, 2013.

A devoted member of Covenant Lutheran Church in Temple, Gloria dedicated her life to family, faith, and community. She was active in church and civic life, cherishing the friendships she built there. Above all, she delighted in her role as a mother and grandmother, pouring her love and energy into her family.

Gloria is survived by her daughter, Jill Jackson Popelka, and her husband, Jimmy; two grandchildren, Kalie Marie Popelka and Cole Jackson Popelka, all of Dallas, Texas; her sisters, Carol Boyls Pimpler of Temple, Texas, and Lana Boyls Wood of Bryan, Texas; her nieces, Sheila Pimpler Haddock and husband Keith of Salado, Texas, and Jennifer Day Wood of Bryan, TX; great nephew Hunter Haddock of San Diego, California and great niece Khloe Wood, of Bryan, Texas; along with many extended family members and dear friends who will miss her greatly.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Richard Thomas Jackson; her brothers in law Harold Gene Pimpler and Jerry Don Wood.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, October 4, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Covenant Lutheran Church in Temple, Texas.

Gloria's life was filled with faith, family, Aggie football, and an enduring love that will live on in all who knew her."
