Glynnie Tietjen Obituary

April 4, 1919 - October 28, 2010

Glynnie Beatrice (Tieman) Tietjen, 91 of Caldwell, went to be with her Lord and Savior Thursday, October 28, 2010.

Funeral Services are set for 2 p.m. Sunday, October 31, at Elizabeth Lutheran Church in Caldwell, with Pastor M.E. Stutts officiating. Burial will follow in the Caldwell Masonic Cemetery. The family will receive guests from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday evening, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home

Mrs. Tietjen was born April 4, 1919 in Deanville, to parents Eddie Tieman and Alma Scheide. She was baptized September 9, 1919 at St. John Lutheran Church in Deanville and confirmed at St. John Lutheran Church in Deanville by The Rev. Mueller on April 21, 1931. Glynnie graduated from Caldwell ISD in 1937 and went on to nursing school in Houston at Baptist Memorial Hospital, where she received her Registered Nursing License in 1940.

She married Anthony H. Tietjen July 29, 1941 in Richmond, Texas. She held various nursing positions that include, twelve years with Baptist Memorial Hospital and with Dr. F. O. McGhee as a Surgical Nurse before the family moved back to Caldwell in 1952. It was 1953 when Thomas Tietjen was born he was their only child. She worked for Goodnight Memorial Hospital from 1960 to 1971, before becoming the Caldwell ISD school nurse from 1971 to 1981, until her retirement.

While the family lived in Houston they were members of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. Then when they moved their membership to Elizabeth Lutheran Church in Caldwell in 1953. She was very active in both congregations. She loved to garden and was a member of the Alter Guild, Elizabeth Circle Bible Class, and Special projects.

Preceding Mrs. Tietjen were her parents, her husband of 46 years, Anthony Tietjen; brother, Milton Tieman; and brother-in-law, John Hull.

Mrs. Tietjen is survived by her loving family that include her son and daughter-in-law, Thomas & Phyllis Tietjen of Caldwell; her granddaughter, Dusti Riewe and husband, Kermit; and great grandson, Colton Riewe.

Pallbearers will be Tim Tietjen, Bradley Suehs, Dewayne Suehs, Seth Suehs, Kermit Riewe and Rick Hull.

The family has requested in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Elizabeth Lutheran Church in Caldwell.

Arrangements are under the direction of Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home, Caldwell.

Tommy and Phyllis - You are so blessed to have known a devout christian as your mother. Always a helpful hand given and always encouragement to all. May God cover you with His precious loving arms as you journey through this life looking upon the life that was so caring.
