Hazel Smith Obituary

March 1, 1943 – January 5, 2015

Hazel Jeanette (Spikes) Smith, 71, of Bryan passed away peacefully Monday, January 5, 2015. Funeral Services are at 1 PM Friday, January 9 in the Reliance Baptist Church. Rev. Ray Marshall and Rev. Johnny Gierisch III will officiate and burial will follow in the Plainview Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5-8PM Thursday, January 8 in the Chapel of Trevino-Smith Funeral Home.

Born March 1, 1943 in Houston, Texas she was the daughter of Roger Ollie and Pearl Colasty (Hawkins) Spikes. Hazel enjoyed sewing, crocheting, playing on her computer, and researching genealogy. For several years she worked at Creath-Brazos Baptist Association and in her later years as a file clerk for Texas A&M. Hazel was a faithful member of Reliance Baptist Church and enjoyed traveling. She deeply loved her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.

She is preceded in death by her parents; five sisters, Irene, Violet, Eula Pearl, Nelda and Marie; and a sister-in-law, Linda Spikes.

Hazel leaves behind to cherish her memories, her loving husband of 52 years, Tommy Smith; two sons, David Russell "Rusty" and his wife Jennifer Smith, and Lance Thomas Smith and his fiancée Kristy; a daughter, Tracy and her husband Paul Price; two brothers, Joe and his wife Pat Spikes, and Kenneth Spikes; she also leaves behind five loving grandchildren, Colton Smith, Kali Smith and Caleb Price, Jaxson Springer, Emily Stutz and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews.
