Mary Joyce Smith

Mary Joyce Smith, 9l, passed away on November 20, 2025, in at her home in College Station, TX of natural causes. A visitation will be held on Sunday, November 23, 2025, from 1 pm – 3pm at Callaway-Jones Funeral Center, 3001 S. College Avenue, Bryan, TX.

Mary was born on November 4, 1934, in Port Allen, Louisiana to Marshall and Lydia Henry. Mary proudly graduated from Port Allen High School and Louisiana State University. She was a resident of Bryan for over 55 years loving Aggieland and working at Texas A&M University for 13 years of devoted service, eventually retiring in 1999.

Mary was involved in the Catholic Church and continued to participate in the traditions in the later part of her life. Mary was awarded the Tradition of Excellence Staff Award by Texas A&M University in 1998 for her distinguished contributions through dedication, initiative attitude and outstanding achievements at the university. Mary loved to read mystery novels in her free time.

Mary was preceded in death by her father, Marshall William Henry Sr; mother, Lydia Mary Lemoine Henry; sister, Bess Larkin; brother, Marshall William Henry Jr; sister, Winnie Edwards; brother, Ronald Henry; brother, Michael Henry; husband, Christopher H. Smith.

Mary is survived by her daughter, Melissa Wiederhold; granddaughter, Courtney Wiederhold; grandson, Cameron Wiederhold; nephew, David Henry; nephew, Darryl Henry; and sister, Mary Henry Trejo. Mary will be interned at Greenoaks Cemetery in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Friday, November 28 at 2 pm. Express condolences to the family at www.CallawayJones.com.
