A Mass of Christian Burial for Monie Kay Zaskoda, 59, of Caldwell are set for 10 a.m., Friday, July 7, 2017 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Caldwell with Fr. Bernard Hung and Deacon John Young officiating. Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., with a Rosary at 7 p.m., on Thursday, July 6, 2017 at Strickland Funeral Home in Caldwell. Interment will be at The Woodsman Cemetery in Gonzales. Mrs. Zaskoda passed away at her home in Caldwell surrounded by her loved ones on July 2, 2017.
Monie Kay was born September 5, 1956 to Randolph Witt and Kay (Hogg) Witt in Gonzales, Texas. She married Tim Zaskoda on June 12, 1993 at St. James Catholic Church in Gonzales.
Monie Kay loved horses. She was a member of the Texas Trail Riders Association and enjoyed trail riding. She also enjoyed spending time at the beach in Port Aransas. Monie Kay taught school in Gonzales and Caldwell of 32 years. She was a very caring and compassionate person for her students. Monie Kay was an avid reader, loved old movies and was a movie historian for classic movies. She loved classic rock and all animals. She enjoyed life and her retirement; water skiing in her younger years, and spending time at the Guadalupe River.
Monie Kay was preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Tim (Zeek) Zaskoda of Caldwell; son and daughter-in-law, Sterling & Jennifer Dalley of Caldwell; daughter, Zella Zaskoda of Caldwell; sister, Linda Witt of Corpus Christi; grandchildren, Jana and Jayden Dalley.
As an expression of sympathy, memorial contributions may be sent to the American Cancer Society.
