Peter Plotts Obituary

June 24, 1941 – August 23, 2014

Peter B. Plotts, 73, passed away Saturday evening August 23, 2014 at his home in Bryan, Texas. Visitation is scheduled for Tuesday, August 26th from 6 P.M. to 8 P.M. at Memorial Funeral Chapel in College Station. Services will be Wednesday August 27th at 10 A.M. at the funeral home, with Reverend Clinton Everett officiating. Burial will be at Willow Hole Cemetery in North Zulch, Texas.

Pete was born June 24, 1941 in Bryan, Texas to Lena Mae Bethke and Lew V. Plotts. He grew up in Normangee, Texas. He graduated from Normangee High School where he was an All-District athlete in three sports. He was also a member of the Normangee's winning Football team in 1958. He was an entrepreneur, owning numerous businesses, University Copy Center, President and Chairman of Lone Star College Books, Inc., to name a few. He was also a Vice-President of Barnes and Nobles, Inc. He and his family resided in Beaumont from 1969 to 1990.

He was devoted to his work. In his spare time he was an avid reader of History and Literature. He enjoyed and appreciated Classical Music and traditional Christian Hymns. He was a member of the Pyramid Masonic Lodge 593 in North Zulch, Texas; the Brazos Union Masonic Lodge 129 in Bryan; the Houston Scottish Rite; and the Bryan York Rites Bodies. He was also a member of the Sand Prairie Baptist Church in Normangee.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and one stillborn son. He is survived by his wife of 55 years, Wanda Plotts, who he called "Baby Doll", of Bryan; four sons, Peter Plotts III of San Marcos; Brian Plotts and his wife Alma of Houston; Fredrick Arthur Plotts and his wife Mari of Osaka, Japan; and William Isaac Plotts of Bryan; one brother, Lew V. Plotts, Jr. and his wife Beverly of Normangee; one sister Annette Stafford and her husband Mike of Kyle, Texas; eight grandchildren and the ninth on the way in December. He is also survived by his beloved cat, "Ebbie" who stayed by his side night and day until his passed away.

The family would like to thank the staff of Texas Home Health Hospice and to his caregiver, Debbie Alewine.

Memorials may be in memory of Pete to Texas Home Health Hospice or to Central Texas Parkinson's Association.

Pete was a dear friend whom I worked with at Barnes & Noble. He will always be remembered and respected for his many accomplishments and his friendship. May he rest in peace.
