Valerie Quince Brumfield

Valerie Quince Brumfield, 55, of Spring, Texas passed away Tuesday, October 5, 2010 at St. Joseph Regional Medical Center in Bryan, Texas surrounded by family and friends. She was born to the late Ike Parker and Marie Parker. Valerie will forever be remembered by her devoted sisters, Verliria Oliver, Rilla Parker and Linda Faye Robinson; beloved children, Mister Shane Brumfield and Christopher Dean Wilson along with countless other family and friends whom were blessed to know her.

During her career, she was the Director of Security for several hospitals including, St. Joseph Regional Medical Center (Bryan, Texas), St. Joseph Hospital Downtown (Houston), Memorial Hermann Northeast (Humble, Texas), Texas Orthopedic Hospital (Houston) as well as Public Safety Supervisor and Supervisor of Operation/Training and special projects at Methodist Hospital in the Texas Medical Center. She has been a part-time instructor at the American Security Officers Academy and at the University of Houston Criminal Justice Center and the Texas Engineering Extension Service through Texas A&M University.

She proudly served in the U.S. Army before completing her Bachelor's and Master's Degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Houston and a Certified Protection Professional. She also attended Texas Women's University for a Masters of Health Care Administration. She is a Certified Training Instructor from the Texas Board of Private Investigators and Private Security Agencies, and a Certified Instructor for Nonviolent Crisis Intervention from the National Crisis Prevention Institute. She is also a member of the American Society of Industrial Security and the International Association of Healthcare Security and Safety.

Valerie touched the lives of many people with her smile and generosity, and maintained her trademark sense of humor and wonderful spirit all the way to the end. Friends and family will be invited to attend a Service of Remembrance honoring Valerie's life at a later date. The family requests in lieu of flowers, donations be sent in her name to her favorite charities, Bread of Life, Inc., 1703 Gray St. Houston, TX 77002 and The Foundation of Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, 837 E.
