PICKENS — Mr. Mitchell Lawrence King, 53, husband of Laura Gillespie King, went to be with his Lord and Savior Saturday, Nov. 25, 2017 after a long courageous battle with cancer. He fought it with a never ending smile.
Born in Pickens County, a son of Lou Ellen Richard King of Pickens and the late Garlon Lawrence King, Jr., Mr. King was employed with the State of South Carolina School Bus Transportation and a member of Northside Baptist Church.
Mitch loved the outdoors, hunting and fishing, but his greatest love was his family and grandchildren.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of twenty-four years and his mother, are his four children, Michelle Crowe (Kenny) of Pickens, Tamela Bonham (Anthony) of Slater, Becca Duncan (Shane) of Pickens and Travis Galloway (Cassidy) of Charleston; two brothers, Anthony King and Thomas King (Becky), all of Pickens; a sister, Iris Bagwell (Tub) of Pickens; six grandchildren, Anthony Bonham, III., Kent Crowe, Allie Crowe, Griffin Duncan, Millee Duncan and Landon Galloway; and his Fur Baby, Smokie.
Funeral services were held 2 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2017 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial followed in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The family received friends from 6-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 27, 2017 at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.
The family is at the home.

Dear King family, Please know that you all are in our thoughts and prayers. I knew Mitchell in high school and he was such a great friend to all. I never saw him without a smile on his face. I only got to see him a few times since then, every time I did... he was always the same Mitchell, with a smile on his face. I am truly sorry for your loss. God bless you all..

I'm very sad to hear of Mitch's passing and suffering from cancer. I doubt I've seen him a dozen times since high school. He was a heck of a good fellow back then and his obituary testifies that he was an even better man. Rest in peace.
