Andrew Joseph Hoying, 28, passed away on Thursday, Feb. 15, 2018, at his home in Columbus.
Andrew was born on April 13, 1989, in Celina to Joseph and Deborah (Siefring) Hoying.
He is survived by his parents; two sisters, Allison (Eric) Gaetano, Williamsport, Pa., and Amanda (Kyle) Ahrens, Coldwater; one nephew, Graham Michael Gaetano; paternal grandparents, Donald and Edna (Kremer) Hoying of Celina; and his maternal grandfather, Herbert Siefring of Coldwater.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Stella (Kunklet) Siefring and his aunt, Rhonda Hoying.
Andrew was a 2008 graduate of Celina High School and a 2012 graduate of the Ohio State University with a bachelor's degree in education.
Andrew began his teaching career in Franklin Heights High School in Columbus for two years and then started his dream job at Gahanna Lincoln High School in Columbus in 2014 where he taught business classes and coached ninth grade boys soccer.
He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1800 and Loyal Order of the Moose 1473, both of Celina. Andrew loved his job but mostly enjoyed the students he taught and had a passion for making sure they succeeded.
He always had a smile on his face, and his laugh could be heard from anywhere. Andrew developed a passion for running and had a special love for his nephew, Graham.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Celina, with the Rev. Kenneth Schnipke and the Rev. Dave Hoying officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Marys Catholic Cemetery in Celina.
Friends may call from 2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday and from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Wednesday at the Lehman-Dzendzel Funeral Home in Celina.
