Barbara Jean Solomon

1934 - 2025

Barbara Jean Solomon, a beloved resident of Sun Lakes, Arizona, passed away on Nov. 17, 2025, at the age of 91. Born on April 21, 1934, in Celina, Ohio, Barbara graduated from high school in 1952, having lived in the Highland Park neighborhood.
Barbara's life was filled with love and devotion to her family. She was married to Otto G. Solomon, affectionately known as Bud, for 68 cherished years until his passing on March 30, 2024. The birth of her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild brought her immense joy, and she adored her family which includes daughter Tracy Buquo (Solomon) (Robert) of Chandler AZ, sons Kirk Solomon (Gregory Rehner) of Los Angeles CA and Scott Solomon of Queen Creek AZ, as well as grandchildren Tamara, Emma, Braedon, and Cade, great-grandchildren Ciara, Ezra, and Kai, and great-great-grandchild Hazel.
Barbara's community service involvement started in high school as President of the band and Girls Athletic Association (GAA) and extended to her community through her involvement as a Girl Scout leader in Bolingbrook, IL.
Barbara's career accomplishments included a fulfilling role as a high school registrar for the Phoenix Union High School District at Maryvale High School, where she worked for 21 years, retiring in 1996. Barbara was also an avid reader
Her family, nephews, nieces, and friends will miss her dearly, including sister-in-law Trudy Speakman, brother-in-law Al Solomon and Leslie Solomon (Reineke).
She is preceded in death by her daughter Deborah K. Poe (Solomon), parents Gerald and Ruth Birt (Siler), in-laws Grover and Martha Solomon (Hertenstein), her sisters and brothers-in-law Shirley (Birt) and Lawrence Kokocki, Karen (Birt) and Joseph Sestan, Mike Speakman, and daughter-in-law Michelle Solomon (Hawkins).
A celebratory and uplifting memorial service will be held at the Valley of the Sun Mortuary, located at 10940 E. Chandler Heights Rd, Chandler, AZ 85248, on April 18, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
