He was also a member of the 111 Zack Muse American Legion Post of Rocky Mount, Virginia. The proud owner of a 1950 Mercury that he had restored, Clarence entered his car into numerous competitions and was a Yesteryears Antique & Classic Auto Club member. He also enjoyed photography and looked forward to volunteering at Franklin Health & Rehabilitation Center in Rocky Mount where he read to patients on a weekly basis prior to his illness.

Clarence is survived by his wife of 67 years, Martha E. Tuning; one daughter, Alicia K. Tuning of Lynchburg, Virginia; three sons, Clarence R. Tuning Jr. of Newport News, Virginia, Jeffrey L. Diane and I are sorry to learn of Clarence's passing. He cleaned our office for a number of years and we got to know him better. I always admired him for keeping in contact with his high school in West Virginia and for them all helping the students there so much. I also admired him for reading to others who needed to be read to. I also admired him for working so hard. To Martha and all the family and friends of Clarence, we pray for your comfort in your loss.

Our Kimball High School Alumni Assoc., (KHSNAA) was blessed to have had Clarence as one of our Chapter Presidents. He was a resounding voice for our goals of Scholarship, Human Service, and Fellowship. His leadership led his Chapter to many noteworthy achievements as he was a true Team Member and now GOD has him on his Team in Heaven. On behalf of the KHSNAA, I say to the Family, Clarence left you a Legacy of great accomplishments on Earth and we all morn with you during this time.

I never met Clarence, but I believe I knew him well as I got to know his life’s greatest work in his son Phil. I worked with Phil at John Deere and he carried himself with the utmost integrity, honor, and dignity. Phil was and is the consummate professional. He is one of the most genuine and authentic human beings I’ve ever encountered. I’m certain this kind of character and value system had to come from his parents. My condolences to all the Tuning family.
