FRANKLIN - Annie "Shay" Bolan Higdon, 76, passed away peacefully Monday, Nov. 3, 2025.
Born in Moulton, Alabama, Annie was the beloved daughter of the late Wes and Ora Johnson Bolan. She spent her early years in Alabama before moving with her family to Pontiac, Michigan, where she met the love of her life, Teddy Marshall "Wolf" Higdon, while he was working at the car plant. Together, they eventually returned to Macon County, where they built a life filled with love, creativity and community.
Annie was preceded in death by her husband, Teddy; daughter-in-law, Connie Bishop Higdon; sister, Olphelia Higdon; and brothers, Andy Bolan and Buddy Bolan.
She is survived by her devoted sons, Tim Higdon, Bo (Tina) Higdon and Denver (Alicia) Higdon; cherished grandchildren, Vanesa Higdon, Garrett (Emilee) Higdon, Dillon Higdon, Amber Higdon, Alexa Higdon, Alyssa Higdon, Heidi Shope and Sydney (Jay) Luzzi; loving siblings, Dorothy "Peno" (Bruce) Holland, Jo (Joe) Snyder and Diane "Dink" Anderson all of Michigan; and spirited canine companion, Toby.
A proud member of Higdonville Baptist Church, Annie found joy in her faith, her family and her many passions. She was a gifted artist who loved painting and drawing, and she shared a deep love for flowers and gardening with her husband. Together, they cultivated gardens across the community, creating beauty wherever they went. Annie also enjoyed traveling out west, cooking for loved ones and spending time with her family, who were the center of her world.
Visitation was held Saturday, Nov. 8 from 11 to 12 p.m., at Higdonville Baptist Church, followed by a funeral service at 12 p.m. Reverend Gene Hawkins officiated. Burial followed in the church cemetery.
Pallbearers were Garrett Higdon, Dillon Higdon, Donald Holland, Heath Higdon, Wes Higdon and Anthony Higdon. Honorary pallbearers included David Holland and Chris Williams.
Annie's legacy of love, creativity and devotion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
