Merrilee Bordeaux

FRANKLIN - Merrilee Ann Bordeaux, 77, passed Monday, Aug. 14, 2023, in the early hours of the morning.
She was the daughter of the late Bill and Meda Bryson.
She was an active member of the community and assisted with the many festivals that grace our small town. She had a passion for writing, having won multiple awards for her published poems and even wrote a book of poems, "A Song of Life and Other Poems." A valued educator, Merrilee was a teacher in the N.C. school system for 30 years, with the majority of her time spent in Franklin's Macon Middle School.
Even after retirement, she continued to volunteer her time working in the Middle School library as an assistant librarian and tutor. She was actively involved with the Scottish Tartans Museum, Friends of the Greenway, the Taste of Scotland Society and Highland Games.
Merrilee is survived by her daughter, Sandra Bordeaux; granddaughters, Lisa Shampine, Alexia Foster and Samantha Harris; great-granddaughter, Alanna Shampine; brother, Buzzy Bryson, and her beloved first cousin (who is more like a sister), Mary Lynn Spivey.
A celebration of life will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26 in the chapel of Macon Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m., one hour prior to the service.
