Eugene Halstead Obituary

EUGENE C. "GENE" HALSTEAD Iowa City Eugene C. "Gene" Halstead, 65, died suddenly Monday, Jan. 18, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Eugene Craig Halstead was born Dec. 17, 1955, in Iowa City the son of James and Mary (Henderson) Halstead. He attended Iowa City school graduating from West High School in 1973. He has spent most of his adult life in the construction field. His family includes his mother, Mary Halstead; two sisters, Connie Halstead and Barb Amlong (Scott); brother-in-law, Stanley Evans; four nieces, Heather Schott (Wesley), Hannah Evans, Haley Amlong and Holly Amlong; one great-niece, Lydia Schott; and a brother-in-law, Stanley Evans. Gene was preceded in death by his father and sister, Cathy Evans. Gene had always said no fuss about me when I die, so no public services are being planned. Down the road his family and friends will gather to remember their son, brother, uncle and friend.
