Gerald Davis Obituary

Gerald "Jerry" James Davis, 74, passed away peacefully and unexpectedly at his home on February 11th, 2025. A life-long resident of Martelle, Jerry graduated from Anamosa Community High School in 1968 and attended Iowa State University. He married Connie (Hinz) in 1975, and they lived on their Century Farm where Jerry farmed his whole life. He also worked at the Wapsipinicon Country Club. He is preceded in death by his mother, Faye, and father, Marion "Bud." He is survived by his wife, Connie; three children: Brandon (Jenna) Davis of Iowa City, Kalli (Mike) Smith of Solon, and Emily Davis (Jesse Sauerbrei) of Cedar Rapids; and eight grandchildren. Other survivors include his sisters: Kim (Stan Thornberry), Kippen Lilly, and Redlen Coontz, all of Cedar Rapids. Jerry loved a good game of golf and playing cards. He was a fixture at his children's and grandchildren's sporting events. His days started off drinking coffee with his friends at their favorite Martelle "coffee spot." In recent years, he enjoyed traveling with friends and family members. Throughout his life, Jerry demonstrated patience and humility in all aspects of his life. The legacy he leaves is to work hard, love people just as they are, and treat everyone with kindness and respect. A Celebration of Life will take place this spring on their 50th wedding anniversary. #jerrylives Online condolences may be left at www.iowacremation under obituaries.

Jerry was a wonderful person. We were friends my Senior year in high school. I learned so much from him about farming, farm life, 4H and Jones County. He loved his family, farming, friends, and his Firebird. I remember his beautiful smile, and most of the time we spent together was full of laughter.
My deepest sympathies to his family and his friends. I´m so sorry for your loss.

My condolences to Connie and Jerry´s family. Thanks to Jerry, some of my best memories of hunting with my Dad as a kid were because of his generosity in always allowing us to hunt his properties. Jerry was always kind, had a smile on his face, and made time to talk and catch up no matter how busy he was. Rest in peace, Jerry. Thank you for the memories.

Sorry to hear that Jerry has passed.
We were second cousins and, although our families weren't close, he was always kind enough to allow my son and I to hunt pheasants on the farm.
He was such a nice guy and very respected in his. Community.
My condolences to the family. May he rest in eternal peace.
