GILBERT "GIB" "GIL" LAWRENCE BECKER Cedar Rapids Gilbert "Gib" "Gil" Lawrence Becker, 88, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Friday, Jan. 7, 2022. Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 10, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 11, at St. Matthew Catholic Church, with viewing at 9 a.m. Burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Eternal Love. He was born on April 27, 1933, to Reynold and Erma (Gudenkauf) Becker in Hopkinton, Iowa. He was one of nine children. Gilbert joined the United States Army and proudly served in Korea from 1954 to 1956. He married Helen Kirby on June 24, 1954, at St. Luke's Church in Hopkinton. Following the service, Gib and Helen farmed for 20 years in the Coggon/Prairieburg area. He retired from Cedar Rapids Incorporated in 2000, after 27 years. He is survived by his loving wife, Helen; children, Deb (Steve) Michael, Sheila (Don) Ricklefs, Larry (Deanne) Becker, Lisa Becker; Jon (Lisa) Becker, Teri (Bob) Wenger and Megan (Adam) Joens; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Cathy Annis; and grandchildren, Jackie Ricklefs and Joshua Wenger. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be in care of Helen Becker.
