KATHLEEN "KATHY" FRITZ Marengo Kathleen "Kathy" Fritz, 68, of Marengo, Iowa, died on Tuesday, Jan. 25, 2022, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. A visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Jan. 28, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. A funeral service will take place at 10 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 29, at the funeral home; a luncheon will immediately follow at the Legacy Center at Murdoch-Linwood. Private burial will be held at Bishop Cemetery in Marengo. Kathy was born April 14, 1953, in Jones County, Iowa, the daughter of Thomas and Lucille (Etten) Day. She married Russell Edward Fritz on Aug. 1, 1970, at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Kathy worked at General Mills for over 30 years. She was a hard worker and fully enjoyed her retirement. Kathy carried on her husband's tradition of cheering for the Green Bay Packers after his death. She loved animals and spared no expense in caring for them, especially her cats and dogs. Above all, Kathy adored her children. She will be dearly missed by those who love her. Survivors include her children, Brian (Diana) Fritz of Tama, Iowa, and Jamie (Michelle) Fritz of Solon, Iowa; six grandchildren, Mariah (fiance, Bailey Chyma), Maci, Brady, Cody, Cole and Emma; and siblings, Teresa (Bob) Cummings of Mechanicsville, Iowa, and Kevin Day of Cedar Rapids. She was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas and Lucille Day; husband, Russell Fritz, in 2015; brothers, Bruce and Ronald Day; sister, Beverly Day; and sister-in-law, Kimmy Day.
