Ken was born July 12, 1942, the son of Pearl and Kenneth Perry Sr. He graduated from Regis High School in 1961, then honorably served his country in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1964. Ken married Shirley Williams in 1965. Ken was a true civil servant and politically active most of his life. He was elected locally in 1972 to serve as the Linn County clerk of district court, where he was distinguished to have served as the last elected and first appointed Linn County clerk of court. He was proud to have followed his father's footsteps as the clerk of court. Ken was later elected and served on the Linn County Board of Supervisors from 1989 to 1992. Ken will be remembered as a great dancer to the music of the '50s and '60s. He was still hitting area dance floors several times a week. Ken also enjoyed everything John Wayne. He was preceded in death by his parents; nephews, Michael Dean Johnson and Eric Martin Perry; and brother-in-law, Jerry Johnson. Memorials may be directed to the Linn County Democratic Central Committee or Hospice House of Mercy. I am sorry to hear that Ken has passed. It was always good to catch up with him at our Class of '61 luncheons. He kept saying he would come to DC for a visit. RIP, Ken.

I apologize for this late memory - I just found out Ken passed away and I did not know he was ill. I worked with and for Ken for years and then knew him as an avid dancer. He was always a kind man understanding and caring for others. I enjoyed working for him - he was a good leader. I also loved that dancing was such an important part of his life - he loved to dance! Unfortunately, I will not be able to attend his funeral but will be thinking of him and his family. I'm so sorry and, again, apologize for my late condolence.

So sorry for your loss of Kenneth. I did not know him personally but, we were at some of the same dances. We did exchange some conversation on occasion. Enjoyed watching him dance. Arlene

Our prayers and sympathy to the family. Have known Ken for many years and sorry to hear of his passing. I've worked as an election official for over 20 years but met him long before that.

Ken seized the moments to enjoy life. He danced socially often at the VFW 788 in Cedar Rapids on Thursdays and at Wild Hogs in Walford on Sundays. A lot of ladies could count on some dances with this very good dancer. He wanted to give us all a chance to dance. I loved doing swing dancing with him. We will all miss him and his infectious smile.
