Lloyd Alvin Dill

1928 - 2023

Lloyd Alvin Dill, 94, passed away on April 29, 2023. Lloyd was born on Oct. 5, 1928 in Garrison, Iowa, to Arthur and Bertha Dill. He married Roxa Ann Phelps and had three children. After Roxa's passing, he married Charlane Stevens. Lloyd taught high school and junior high geography for many years in Kalona, Marshalltown, Iowa City and Solon, Iowa. He coached many high school sports throughout his teaching career. He ended his coaching career as the Senior Recruiting Coordinator for Arizona Christian University. Lloyd coached five student athletes that became head coaches at nine NCAA Division I universities. After teaching, he helped pioneer the modern process of connecting student athletes with college football and basketball programs. He remained an avid sports fan throughout his life and loved his Upper Iowa Peacocks and Iowa Hawkeyes. Lloyd was preceded in death by his parents, wife Roxa Dill, wife Charlane Stevens, sister Marian Brecht, brother Donald Dill, daughter-in-law Randee Dill and granddaughters Kimberly and Nicole Wisgerhof. He is survived by his children, Doug (Mary Gallagher) Dill, Nancy (Martin) Wisgerhof and Brad and (Tanya) Dill, grandchildren Tyler (Anna) Dill, Maria Wisgerhof and Jessica (Brandon) Kenney, and great-grandchildren JJ and Charlie Dill, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held at a later date in the Twin Cities area.
