Mary Rita Leamon

Mary Rita Leamon, 98, of Cedar Rapids, died Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House of Mercy. Services will be held at a later date. Burial: Concord Cemetery, Concord, IN. Mary is survived by her sons, John (Beth) Leamon of Tuscola, IL and Dave (Jane) Leamon of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Carol (Frank) Carey of Cumming, GA; 7 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and 4 great- great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Reed; parents; brothers; and her in-laws. Mary was born on August 19, 1926 in Lafayette, IN, the daughter of Harry and Margaret Kerkhoff Hege. She graduated from Stockwell High School in Stockwell, IN in 1944. On June 11, 1949, she married Marion Reed Leamon at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Lafayette, IN. Mary enjoyed playing golf and had volunteered over 10,000 hours at Mercy Medical Center. Memorials may be directed to Mercy Medical Center Auxiliary.
