Gerald Thomsen Obituary

Gerald (Jerry) Thomsen, 85, of Marion, Iowa, passed away September 17, 2025, at Silver Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Marion, Iowa. Jerry was born on November 12, 1939, to Ervin and Leona (Petersen) Thomsen. He graduated from Washington High School in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force for four years. Later he farmed near Ryan, Iowa, until he retired. Jerry married Barbara Baxter in 1971. She preceded him in death earlier this year. His parents, two brothers, Loren (Arlene) Dooley and Gorden (Judy) Thomsen, and two sisters, Gloria (Glen) Gienapp and Kay Thomsen also preceded him in death. Jerry is survived by one brother, Leon (Meri) Thomsen, of Waverly, Iowa, and many nieces and nephews. Jerry was cremated at Cedar Memorial Funeral Home and will be buried at the Iowa Veterans Cemetery in Adel, Iowa. A celebration of Jerry's life will be held at a later date. He will be missed.

I was up at Jerry's farm from the time I was13. It was my 2nd home. Then my kids went up to the farm. We all love Jerry and his kindness. He even took on trips we will never forget. We sure miss him. Leon I'm so sorry for your loss.
