Paul Kumley Obituary

Paul Eddy Kumley of Lisbon, Iowa, was born on Nov. 14, 1944, in Pontiac, Mich., the youngest child of Paul and Nina Kumley. On Tuesday, June 27, at the age of 78, he passed away at Hallmark Care Center in Mount Vernon after a long and valiant battle with COPD and emphysema. He worked cutting meat for a grocery store while attending Waterford TWP High School. After completing electrical school in Michigan, he was recruited to work at Collins in Cedar Rapids. In 1969, he began working for Northwestern Bell which became AT&T. He eventually retired after a successful career there. He had been a member of Mt. Herman Lodge #263, Gethsemane White Shrine, St. Paul's United Methodist Church, and the Cedar Rapids Metal Detecting Club. Paul loved to go fishing and he thoroughly enjoyed antique cars, specifically Model-Ts, and his trips to Hershey, Pa., and Chickasha, OKla., for swap meets. He remained active in the Cedar Rapids Antique Car Club until his passing. He is survived by the mother of his children, Audrey Savage of Monticello; his children, Daniel (Danielle) Kumley of Mount Vernon, Matthew Kumley of Monticello, and Sarah (Bill) Jones of Dyer, Ind.; grandsons, Mason Kumley and Henry Jones; sisters, Donis Hatcher of Durango, Colo., and Jean Billings of Waterford, Mich.; and numerous nieces and nephews. Paul was preceded in death by his sister, Judy Kumley in 1951; daughter, Rebecca Kumley in 1980; and his parents. Visitation: 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Cedar Memorial Park Funeral Home, Funeral Service: 11 a.m. Friday, July 7, 2023, at Cedar Memorial Chapel of Memories. A livestream of the funeral service may be accessed on the funeral home website under the obituary for Paul Eddy Kumley, under the video tab starting at 11 a.m. July 7, 2023. Interment: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be directed to Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital. So sorry to hear of Paul´s passing. I have many fond memories of playing cards, our card club gatherings as well as the antique car club events and parades so many years ago. My condolences to the family. Paul will be remembered for the good times he shared with many. Marilyn Pribyl
