Terry Gibson Obituary

Terry G. Gibson, loving husband, father, grandfather and friend, died on October 2, 2025, at the age of 88, in Denver, Colorado. Terry was preceded in death by his wife Carey Downs Gibson and son Jeffrey T. Gibson. He is survived by four children, Michael K. Gibson (Jamie Mangone), Channing R. Gibson (Kathy O'Donnell Gibson), Stacy L. Heath (Jeffrey Heath), Thomas J. Gibson (Nathan Williams), their mother Carol Madsen Gibson; two grandchildren, A. Reed Lima and Riley Gibson; two stepchildren, Juliette Jack Banerjee and MacAndrew Jack; and three stepgrandchildren, Orion Banerjee, Bhante Mokkhacara and Tanner Jack; and a brother, Kent Gibson (Lynn Gibson). Terry was born on June 28, 1937, to Arthur and Laura Gibson in Lyndon, Illinois. Terry was a proud graduate of Cornell College in Mount Vernon, Iowa. He also began his career in fundraising and finished his last two decades at Cornell College. In between stints at Cornell, he also worked for Boston University, Lake Forest College, Northwestern University, University of Denver and University of Tulsa. Terry loved sports, playing basketball and running track for Cornell. He and Carey were avid cyclists and together rode RAGBRAI several times and enjoyed cycling vacations in Europe and Vietnam. He was proud to have broken his collarbone while mountain biking. In later life, he bought several e-bikes (also getting them stolen frequently) and enjoyed cruising the bike paths around Denver with family and friends. Terry's families and friends will remember him as a quick wit, eager to join in a laugh and a kind soul who cherished his relationships. A private service for the Gibson and Jack families will be held in Denver. Memorials may be directed to either Cornell College or the Czech and Slovak Museum.
