I finally was able to get online with this. So so sorry it took so long. Didn’t have an email address or anything. And was unable to get from my mom. Haven’t even read obituary. But even before my post. I wanted to say Sam was one of my favorites I’ve ever met in this world. Personality. Compassion. Faith. Everything. He’s truly with God and Jim, Lou, everyone now. God Bless. I Extend my sympathies to you and your family. Sincerely, Jeff Norton.

Tom.was a good friend and a grear shipmate on the Skate...loved to gripe back and forth whether a pump failure was electrical or nechanical.....he had the soul of smoke boat sailor and one of fast disappearing group of men that would lick thier fingers and swipe buss bars to see if they were live. .the loss of .his easy going friendly soul makes the world less. bright......rest your oars good friend and shipmare, we have the. watch and an extra ration of grog to toast your memory as God welcomes you home.....

Tom, my Brother-in law and very special friend has always been the greatest man I have ever known. He was an amazing Husband, Dad and Grandfather. His family was the light of his life. He was so proud to have been a “Deep Water” Sailor and after retiring from the Navy his civilian career was an extension of love for the nuclear field. We enjoyed shooting at the range and sharing fun times with many stories about life in general. Tom loved to cook whether on the grille, deep fryer, smoker or in the kitchen. Whenever he visited in MA, he would always fill his cooler with Chinese sausage to bring back to VA. It was a feast waiting to happen and an amazing meal would be shared by all. We have many beautiful memories held deep within our hearts and we will miss him dearly. Pat & Paul

Dear Joyce, family and friends of Tom,
On behalf of the United States Submarine Veterans, we offer our sincere condolences at Toms passing. Please know that you are in our thoughts and prayers. We are always saddened whenever a fellow "Bubblehead" departs on Eternal Patrol. He served with honor on the USS Tecumseh SSBN-628, USS Sam Rayburn SSBN-635, USS George Washington SSBN-598, USS Abraham Lincoln SSBN-602, and USS Skate SSN-578.
To our "Brother-of-the-Phin" we say, "Sailor, rest your oar. We have the watch. Fair Winds and Following Seas." Thank you for your service to our country.
Joyce and family... "may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you." 2 Thessalonians 3:16 (ESV).

I will sincerely miss Tom good heart and laughter. He fought so hard and I'm sure he's been reunited with all his family in heaven and hopefully has found Pat there as well.

Typically a man of few words, but one who lived through his service and action, he cherished his friends and family and kept God close to his heart. He truly wanted the best for everyone and would give the shirt off his back for anyone in need. He will be greatly missed but is finally able to rest and enjoy the rewards he earned in life. Please make sure to enjoy a cold one on his behalf and remember the good times by providing a few words to those in need of a laugh or care to those in need of a form of support - and do it quickly as we know Tom would not want you to take your time getting it done.
