WILBERT "WEBB" HENRY THOEMING Tipton Wilbert "Webb" Henry Thoeming, 97, of Tipton, passed away on Thursday, Oct. 14, 2021, at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa. On Sunday, Oct. 17, Fry Funeral Home will host a visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. On Monday, Oct. 18, the First United Church of Christ, Tipton, will hold a funeral service at 11 a.m. and a one-hour luncheon at noon. Immediately following the luncheon, Webb will be laid to rest at the Massillon Cemetery. Webb was born on March 24, 1924, in Lowden, Iowa, to Hugo and Tillie (Edler) Thoeming. He attended rural school in Lowden and graduated from Conesville High School, Conesville, Iowa, in 1941. Webb served in the U.S. Navy from 1943-46. He was united in marriage to Eleanor Long, on March 17, 1951, in Maquoketa, Iowa. Webb worked as a mechanic for over 42 years, retiring in 1988. After retirement, he worked for Wal-Mart, Great River Transit and did volunteer work. Webb was a member of the First United Church of Christ, Tipton, a life member of the VFW Post 2537, and the Iowa Firefighters Association, having served on the Tipton Fire Department. Webb is survived by his wife of 70 years, Eleanor; two daughters, Vicky Evans, Marion and Sandra (Terry) Toal, Sioux Falls, S.D.; two sisters, Edith Steffen, Tipton, and Shirley Thumm, Mount Vernon; along with various nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son-in-law, Randy Evans; two brother-in-law, Earl Steffen, Tipton and Delmar Thumm; and nephew, David Thumm. Memorials may be made to First United Church of Christ, Tipton, Cedar County Senior Dining or Camp Courageous.
