Charlotte Warren Obituary

Charlotte Faye Bentley Warren

EVANSVILLE, IN, FORMERLY OF HENDERSON, KY - Charlotte Faye Bentley Warren met her Creator peacefully on Saturday, March 27, 2021, at her family barn on Daffodil Farm surrounded by love and beauty.

Charlotte was born in Henderson, Kentucky, on November 29, 1945, to her devoted parents, Ethel Mae Wedding and Cassius Taylor Bentley, Jr. She was a farmer's daughter who was a steward of the land, never forgetting her roots. After losing her own mother at the young of age 9, she experienced the fragility of life and the gift of Catholic faith. She carried these truths throughout the remainder of her days on Earth.

She was a dedicated wife to Michael Wayne Ward who blessed her with two beloved daughters, Monica and Jaycee. In 1975, she married her life-long love, Gene Warren, Jr., of Henderson. Together they welcomed two additional children, December and Otha, and created a unified family of love.

Charlotte was co-owner, with Gene, of their family-owned real estate company and was the guiding force for the "small but mighty" team. She was a keen businesswoman with impeccable skills in real estate, relationship building, and servant leadership. She shared a special relationship with the merchants of North Park Shopping Center. No task was too small or too big for her as she modeled integrity, hard work, patience, and kindness.

At the same time Charlotte was growing a family and business, which would have been enough for most, she also gave back to her community. She was a generous volunteer and philanthropist to many local charities. She invested in people with humility and candor while seeing their best self, even if they themselves did not.

While Charlotte's many professional and civic accomplishments are great, she found purpose in her relationships. Never one to meet a stranger, she was unapologetically herself and created space for you to do the same. She was a mentor to many and a champion for all, most especially her six grandchildren who will always know her as "Gramcracker" - a presence of unwavering love and support.

Her mind was always active, her curiosity broad and deep, her wit clever, and her heart always with her family and loved ones to whom she was profoundly devoted. She created beauty wherever she was with her timeless sense of Southern style, love of gardening, and cooking feasts with loved ones.

After extensive sacrifice and hard work, in recent years she had begun to travel to places far and wide creating adventures for the memory books. And yet, she was always grateful to return to her home, farm, life on the lake, or jaunts to the river bottoms.

She was preceded in death by many including her Mother (Ethel Mae), Father (Cassius and his wife, Nancy), brother (Anthony Neal), sister (Nina), nephew (Warren Hutcheson), uncles, aunts, and grandparents- all of whom we know she is dancing with at this hour.

She is survived by her husband and co-captain in life, Gene; her children, Monica (Glenn), Jaycee (Juli), December (Matt), and Otha (Elizabeth); her sisters, Robin and Kimber (Tim); her brother, Scott; her former son-in-law, Ed Shakun; and her grandchildren, Elaina, Olivia, Henry, Eliza, Charlotte Kathryn, and Rose, along with nieces, nephews, and friends whom she loved as family. Her spirit also lives on through her four-legged children including JC, Bear, Casey, Champ, and Patches.

Visitation will be on Thursday, April 1, 2021, from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m. at Rudy-Rowland Funeral Home, 604 Center Street, Henderson, Kentucky 42420, where prayers will be said at 6 p.m.

A celebration of her life and legacy will be at Saint Benedict Cathedral in Evansville, Indiana, on Friday, April 2, 2021, at 10 a.m. The funeral service will be live streamed via Saint Benedict Cathedral's Facebook page.

COVID-19 precautions will be respected in all locations. As a lover of Spring colors, such attire is welcomed.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Healing Reins of Kentucky or Albion Fellows Bacon of Evansville.

We will miss her more than words can capture while trusting she will continue to walk with us. Charlotte lived her life fully, forgave quickly, prayed humbly, and loved unconditionally. We will honor her life by seeking to live the same.

The family and staff of Droste's Jewelry Shoppes extend their heartfelt condolences to Gene and family at the passing of their beloved Charlotte. She lives on in each beautiful memory in the hearts of those blessed to be closest to her and every person whose life was forever touched by her sweet presence and servant-spirit. Pure love and Joy unspeakable are catching and many are the souls who caught a glimpse of heaven on earth when Charlotte entered their life! We were among those fortunate people who remember her with gratitude and appreciation for her and Gene's contribution to the success of our jewelry business in North Park. Like the Warrens, Ottie and I, along with devoted family, are proof that a husband-wife partnership, based on Godly principles, is the foundation for a successful and fulfilling life. Charlotte finished her role as Daughter, Granddaughter, Sister, Wife, Mother, Grandmother, Aunt. Friend and lover of her four-legged children - all the while living her faith with a servant-heart as a generous volunteer and philanthropist. She has answered a higher calling to her Eternal home and the words: "Well done, good and faithful servant." No doubt, she's still busy about the Father's business! May God strengthen and comfort all who loved her with the promise that because of Easter you will see her again.

Gene and family, I was fortunate to have been around Charlotte a few times in my life. She was without a doubt, one of the kindest people I have ever met. I viewed her as the type that in a room of 300 people, she could and would make every one of them feel as though they were the most important person in the room. I am very sorry to hear that she has passed and the world has lost one of its most gentle and unique persons. My thoughts and sorrow are with you.

Charlotte, whomever wrote your obituary, did it with perfection. I might also add that you were a great listener and gave well meaning advice....I was a beneficiary of that!! Your personality and warmth exuded from you as well as love and grace!! I truly enjoyed our times together!! It is going to be hard not having you here anymore, as you have always been a part of my earliest childhood memory. Jr T and my Aunt Nancy made that possible. But, you are rejoicing with those today who have gone on before you and waiting for us all to join you someday. Rest in peace sweet Charlotte, your work is done.
